Salary Range: $3,794 - $5,956/Monthly (Budgeted Hiring Salary: $3,794 - $4,048/Monthly)

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Director of Parking & Transportation Services, the incumbent will be responsible for the day, evening or weekend campus traffic operations and serve as the Lead to full-time and part-time parking officers.  The incumbent will effectively communicate with Lead counterparts on day-to-day operations and meet frequently with the Parking Event Coordinators to designate event parking arrangements, signage and staffing.  The incumbent will prepare traffic event plans and after-action reports for special events such as Campus Fairs, Orientations and Commencements; coordinate assignments for the field operation, including assigning staffing needs at the Welcome Centers.  Incumbent will monitor traffic control, campus events, field services and enforcement; lead by example and hold field personnel to their highest standards. Incumbent will handle technical issues related to the parking pay stations, the campus parking mobile app and enforcement issues related to the license plate recognition (LPR) system.  Incumbent will train new officers on using citation handheld and LPR equipment.  Incumbent will issue parking citations to vehicles violating parking regulations and for all violations under the California Vehicle Code; appear in court as an expert witness for third level appeals in representation of the university.  Incumbent will unlock vehicles when assistance is requested and answer trouble-shooting calls; performs vehicle battery-jumps, enforces disabled placard misuse, identifies vehicles subject to tow, and escorts emergency vehicles onto the campus. Incumbent will attend training and workshops intended to increase knowledge and experience.  Incumbent will perform vacant lot counts; perform emergency phone malfunction checks; assists public with trouble-shooting parking pay stations.  Incumbent will assist with the recruitment of traffic officers.  Incumbent must be able to interpret department policies and procedures; must be able to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those sensitive in nature.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Must have two (2) or more years of lead experience or performance of lead work for parking staff.  Knowledge of university parking rules and regulations; the use of applicable traffic equipment and systems. Must know how to interpret the California Vehicle Code and any applicable laws pertaining to public grounds. Must have good interpersonal skills; the ability to administer exceptional customer service and work efficiently, independently and in a team environment. Incumbent must have good leadership skills; make critical decisions with limited to no supervision; have the ability to coordinate and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks.   Incumbent must be able to interface and communicate effectively with diverse community and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Incumbent must possess a valid California's driver's license. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: CPR, First Aid and C.E.R.T. training is desirable.
